My heart skipped a beat when I saw Rail Europes' competition to travel to Paris and take a train trip through France to Switzerland. One, I love train travel, and have always dreamed of doing so in Europe. However, more importantly, this would provide an awesome opportunity to find the painting my father, and I saw on that beautiful day being painted of La Grande Roue. My dad has since passed, but finding this painting is just one more way to honor his memory.
I can imagine such a trip would provide the unique opportunity to have boots on the ground (however briefly) in Paris to visit art dealers and any local artists who may know who frequents the gardens at the Louvre. Second, this is unlikely to be accomplished alone. I would want to make this a competition for those who are on the train with me going through France. Even if they simply share my posts made along the trip with others they know. How many degrees of separation between me and that painter can there be? Finding this painting is all about the journey, remembering my Dad, and having fun while doing so.
Wish me luck!
